From among the array of options available, RENFE chose the esmeroMobilizer platform of the ALMA Group because of its "speed of installation, universality of access devices and personalized configuration." At the showcase of FITUR 2007, RENFE presented the mobilization of its website, becoming the first European transport firm to adopt the domain .mobi.
Alfonso Taboadela, head of Process Consulting and Innovation, and Pedro Miguel López, director of Advertising, Statistics and Internet at RENFE, presented to the public the launch of the domain renfe.mobi. The platform of the ALMA Group, esmeroMobilizer, was chosen for this development, according to Taboadella, because it "provides the features we were asking for."
esmero.Mobilizer enables the RENFE portal to "easily, simply and reliably support the product," and thereby "make it accessible to all users," said Taboadella.
The objective of RENFE in this mobilization of its website is to achieve a more direct connection with the public. According to López, esmero is helping users "get the most important information from the RENFE website through their mobile phone."
This mobile portal, a pioneering experience in Europe, is a "cutting-edge project, a RENFE initiative that's part of a quite ambitious strategy," says Taboadella. Plus, López emphasizes that users will soon be able to "buy tickets on their mobile phones."
For her part, María Eugenia Fernández, RENFE's manager of Content and Internet stated that the ultimate aim of renfe.mobi is to "be able to sell tickets," as RENFE believes "the future of Internet lies in mobile phones."
Concerning esmero.Mobilizer, she said they were "surprised by the quick response time," and that the platform's main advantage is "it's not intrusive on other applications." Finally, Fernández said "no other initiative was more complete than esmeroMobilizer".
RENFE has chosen the ease of installation, the universality of access devices and customized personalization of the esmeroMobilizer solution developed by the ALMA Group for the mobilization of its website.
This solution allows RENFE to enhance its business offer by expanding channels of communication and access to useful information on company services.
So users of the RENFE online portal will enjoy the universality provided by its new mobile portal (http://renfe.mobi/), enabling access to services and contents from mobile telephones, PDAs and, in the future, through TDT, Imagenio and Media Center.
The new service allows access through WAP 1.0, WAP 2.0, PDAs, SmartPhones, I-mode phones in a simple Internet connection through any operator.
Telefónica Móviles of Spain, following more than a year-long evaluation of access platforms, has chosen Esmero for the mobilization of applications, contents and services. Telefónica Móviles has acquired seven licenses for esmeroPlatform to equip its PAI platform with a multi-device front-end application.
The ALMA Group has been awarded the Movilforum scholarship as the stand with the largest number of visits during the Movistar trade fair. Presenting its mobility solutions esmeroMobilizer and esmeroFramework in the public administration area, the ALMA Group was the most sought-out exhibitor among the 4,200 visitors to the fair in Madrid on 22 and 23 November.
Under this scholarship, secured in competition among the 54 exhibitors present, the ALMA Group will have a 50% reduction of their annual fee as a member of Movilforum.
In collaboration with Telefónica, the ALMA Group has started a project to mobilize the tourist portal esmadrid.com. The project was presented to the mayor of Madrid Alberto Ruiz Gallardón on 22 November at the Sixth Edition of Movilforum
On the mobile version of the portal esmadrid.com, users can receive all basic information on entertainment, culture and business in Madrid directly on a telephone or mobile device. Users can access to mobile esmadrid at the address http://movil.esmadrid.com/ (also at the addresses http://pda.esmadrid.com/ and http://wap.esmadrid.com/) from any mobile phone or device with WAP 1.0 and 2.0 or I-mode. Content is available in three languages: Spanish, English and now in Japanese. So the portal will be as accessible and manageable as possible for tourists visiting Madrid: the latest technology at the service of both residents and visitors to the city.
